ABOUT ME

Hello, my name is Angela Laidlaw, I am based in Currie, South West Edinburgh. I am a level 4 Pilates instructor, Pilates exercise therapist, Pregnancy and postpartum corrective exercise specialist and a personal trainer. Also, I am a mum of 2 young boys. I have set up my Pilates and Exercise Therapies business to help mothers (and others) to start/get back/continue exercising safely after giving birth whether it was 2 months, 2 years or 20 years ago. I would like to raise awareness about exercises which help women to recover postpartum and prevent future complications such as pelvic floor dysfunction, prolapse which can lead to other health issues such as back/hip pain.

Angela’s virtual Pilates lesson over Zoom in lockdown have been invaluable. I am a keen runner which means I often suffer from injuries. Her lessons provide much needed focus on stretching problematic areas and strengthening the core. Her style of delivery means I can choose between easier or more challenging pose options depending on how I feel on the day. The variety has also been great and I particularly enjoy exercising with a stretch band and prickle balls. Thank you so much Angela for keeping me fit!

“I have been attending Angela’s ‘Gentle Pilates’ classes for 3 years or so, which are most enjoyable and I certainly feel the benefit within myself. I particularly like the fact that Angela takes time to understand how everyone is, prior to commencement of the class, and then adjusts one’s personal routine accordingly – to optimise exercise results without encountering potential complications. Angela is very experienced and professional and I am very happy to recommend her classes.”

I have been doing Pilates classes (in person and on-line) with Angela for 5 years now.

Angela’s classes are small and friendly, and new people are always made to feel very welcome. Classes are tailored, with options for each of the exercises to suit your ability.

Angela’s classes are really enjoyable, give you a good stretch all over and help you to loosen up, unwind and relax. They have greatly improved my core strength and balance.

It’s so brilliant to have had this dedicated time for self-care postnatally. Angela is really supportive and passionate about postnatal recovery.  She talks you through a good range of exercises, explains the benefits of doing them and helps you think about creating habits for doing them at home yourself, so you can practise without even thinking about it (handy when you’ve got wee ones keeping you busy!)  She’s so accommodating of the wee ones too, making them feel as welcome as we do!
I would encourage anyone thinking about how to strengthen themselves and their core after birth to book up ASAP!
